Listening is underrated but is as important as talking

Spend time listening and it will add value to your talking.

Spend time listening and it will add value to your talking.

Today I have been mostly listening and reading other blogs rather than being at all productive on my own, but I suspect that this will add more value in the long term.

It’s hard to take the time out to do this, but this is at least as important as putting out more of my own content, if not more so.

I have been trying to steal a little bit of time out before the gradual onslaught of the summer holidays, but have spent most of the afternoon at a picnic and a fabulous ballet performance, in between times being inspired by a number of different blogs I have been reading and trying to organise myself so that I can spend an orderly amount of time each day in catching the best ideas from people whose blogs inspire that mix of envy and admiration at the same time.

One of the major benefits of working in the online space is how much content there is out there, how generous people generally are with sharing it, and how much you can learn by studying the approach and the output of people that you admire. This openness and generosity can only serve to improve everyone’s environment, and I hope that I can share some of my learnings and make my own contribution going forward.
